The Embassy Commemorates National Mujahid Day

The Embassy of Algeria in Oslo commemorated today, 20 August 2026, National Mujahid Day, marking the double anniversary of the North Constantine Offensives of 20 August 1955 and the convening of the Soummam Congress on 20 August 1956, under the theme “Following in the Footsteps of Their Struggle.”

Following the raising of the national flag and the playing of the national anthem, the recitation of Al-Fatiha and the observance of a minute of silence in tribute to the souls of our righteous martyrs, Mr. Miloud Sayad, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., on behalf of H.E. Mrs. Feriel Ryma Yousfi, Ambassador of Algeria to Norway, delivered remarks on this occasion, in which he recalled the historical significance of these two major milestones in the course of the glorious National Liberation Revolution and the heroism, sacrifices, values of national unity, and commitment to freedom and independence that they embodied.

He also emphasized the importance of preserving national memory and transmitting the values and principles of the November Revolution to younger generations, particularly the children of the Algerian community residing in Norway, and strengthening their attachment to their homeland, history and national identity.
